I can think of no better way to start off the Year of the Pig (Chinese) than with a great geek brunch at Chau Chow in Boston's Chinatown. Many thanks to j for the setup (in honor of Dave Winer's visit to Boston), and for the great crowd attending, including Dave Winer, Dan Bricklin, Betsy Devine, Mike Walsh, Shimon Rura, Amanda Watlington and many others crowding around the downstairs table.
Outside it was chaos, with loud drumming, dragons dancing in the street and fireworks everywhere. The crowds inside the restaurant (a real treat for dim sum fans) brought the noise of the streets with them, but were no competition to the hostess with the mike, shouting out table numbers in both English and Chinese.
With no small amount of courage (and some great new equipment - envy, envy) Dan Bricklin recorded the event for posterity by doing an on-the-spot podcast, interviewing Shimon about an upcoming (Bar Camp) event. For more coverage, including a full array of photos, check out Dan's excellent post.
Happy New Year.
